Registration for the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) 2013 Summer Conference is now open on the IGMA website.
The program will focus on insulating glass quality and testing. The conference is scheduled for August 7-10, 2013 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and Resort. IGMA events feature the top minds from the IG industry with many networking opportunities at interesting events such as the Strolling Culinary Tour and Tall Ship Dinner Cruise.
The major focus of the conference is product quality, specifically through certification, testing and in-house quality systems with presentations by Dan Braun (ATI) on NFRC 706, IG Certification requirements for thermal performance and current prequalification strategies under development at IGMA. The Thursday session will feature “Current Failure Trends in the Industry” presented by Bill Lingnell, Lingnell Consulting Services and IGMA Technical Consulting.
Mike Burk (Quanex), an adult education specialist will lead a hands-on training session titled “In-House Testing for Manufacturing Facilities”. “Continuous quality improvement can lead to a higher first time pass rate on Insulating Glass certifications,” said Margaret Webb, IGMA Executive Director. The talk will focus on key failure modes and in house testing throughout the insulating glass production that can help improve end product quality and consistency. Using a team approach to problem solving, Mike will develop cause and effect diagrams (fishbone diagrams) to visually identify root cases of common effects. This will help bring out a more thorough exploration of the issues behind each identified issue and will also give each attendee a tangible take away from the session, which can be used in the facility.
“IGMA has always done an excellent job combining technical expertise with fun networking opportunities,” said IGMA President Frank Caporiccio of PPG Industries. This year, the event will have three unique networking events. The Harbour Queen I Dinner Cruise will feature the harbor area and the strolling culinary tours will take in the flavors of the area. On Tuesday evening, there is also a joint reception with the IGCC.
Registration for this exciting event is now available online at the IGMA website at www.igmaonline.org. We look forward to seeing you Halifax.
