Q I have a 44mm thick 30 minute fire door and I am considering using a concealed indoor closer. I am concerned that the closer body shadow will show through the light coloured veneer on such a thin door. Can I fit a concealed closer into the frame rather than the door leaf?

A Yes, it is mechanically possible to install the closer body into the frame with the guide rail arm into the door leaf. However, specific fire test evidence is required to cover this application.
