Release of second Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) validates 14 new architectural solar control window films as carbon negative
Solar Gard®, an industry-leading manufacturer of architectural and automotive window films, today announced the completion of its second Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which is a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impact of a product, from production to disposal. Solar Gard’s new EPD covers an additional 14 solar control architectural window films, bringing the total number of carbon negative window films manufactured by Solar Gard to 46.

Simply manufacturing an energy-saving product is not enough, in order to strengthen the worldwide movement for sustainable building we must validate our environmental claims.”
As part of Solar Gard’s commitment to transparency and decreasing its carbon footprint, the EPD assesses the cradle-to-grave environmental impact of the films and scientifically substantiates that Solar Gard solar control architectural window films have a net positive environmental impact across the globe. Performed under ISO 14040 and 14025 standards for Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and reporting, an EPD is globally accepted as the most comprehensive way to validate a product’s environmental performance.
Solar Gard’s architectural solar control window films transform existing glass into high-performance windows, reducing energy consumption up to 30 percent by decreasing interior temperature fluctuations and cooling costs. In doing so, Solar Gard helps reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
