2nd International Symposium on Architectural Glass: 'Working With Light as a Means of Interaction Between Space and Mind'

In 1999, the IIRG hosted a one-day symposium on “The Extended Use of Glass in Architecture” with the aim of encouraging debate and research in the UK, which generated a high level of participation and interest.

This year's symposium will have an emphasis on how flat glass is used three dimensionally in space and as a creative means of expression. This will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of this process: idea exploration, design development, use of new technologies, the possibilities of technical restrictions and the multi-disciplinary approach prevalent in many projects.

The symposium will take the form of traditional lectures, panel discussions, workshops demonstrations and informal networking opportunities. Speakers include Marian Karel and Dana Zamecnikova.

Organised by the International Institute of Research in Glass (IIRG) based at the National Glass Centre at the University of Sunderland.
