The national standard for semi-tempered glass has passed the review of China National Technical Committee for Standardization of Architectural Glass.

Semi-tempered glass is processed by the technology for heat treatment, and its strength is 1-2 times stronger than ordinary glass, while its debris is similar to that of ordinary glass. Semi-tempered glass does not belong to safety glass according to the definition of safety glass, for its surface can only bear 24-52 MPA of stress.

Compared with tempered glass, semi-tempered glass is more advantaged in its smoothness, stress pattern and self-explosion. So, in some places, semi-tempered glass is greatly needed.

Semi-tempered glass is named heat strengthened glass in English. This standard is revised by referring to the national and regional standard of EU, the USA, Japan and Australia, and makes requests on appearance quality, curvature, surface stress, and so on.
