According to the chief of Mozambique National Industrial Bureau, a South African company will invest 10 million U.S. dollars in a glassware factory, which has been shutdown for about 10 years since the civil war II in South of Mozambique. The plant is planed to put into production in the middle of next year, and will provide glass bottles for Mozambique’s beer companies and the Coca-Cola Company.

The plant was previously owned by the state and was bought by a Portugal company in the Middle of 1990s when Mozambique companies went through privatization. Then, it became the only bottle plant in Mozambique. However, the Portugal BA Company stopped production after operating the plant for a short time in 1998, with the production capacity of 120 t/d glass bottles. The Mozambican media said that, the restart of the plant resulted from the support from the government for glass industry.
