Vitrum 2013, the biennial International Trade Show specializing in machinery, equipment and systems for flat and hollow glass, took place last week in Milan, with increased attendance.
About 20,000 square meters of exhibit area hosted 349 exhibitors from 28 different countries, primarily Italy, China and Germany. This year, the show placed special focus on the role of glass in energy-saving technologies and the use of renewable energy.
Vitrum officials reported a 3.16 percent increase in total attendance compared to the 2011 show, with overseas visitors up by 6.30 percent. Total attendance data collected Friday was 6,321, with more than 3,000 attendees from overseas.
"Data collected so far evidences the positive results for this Vitrum edition notwithstanding the global crisis which, despite weak signs of abating, continues to negatively affect Europe and the entire world," said Renata Gaffo, Vitrum director, in an Oct. 26 release. "Despite an Italian market that is still under pressure, Vitrum proved to be a focal point of attraction for...international buyers...and the Italian and foreign companies operating in the glass industry."
