IGMA Encourages Involvement in Canadian Model Code Review

The fall 2013 public review of proposed changes to Canada's 2010 National Model Construction Codes opened Oct. 15 and will run until Dec, 13 on the National Codes web site, according to an Oct. 22 Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance release. IGMA encouraged its members to be involved in this process, as the review includes the association's code request to reference ASTM E1300, the standard practice for determining load resistance of glass in buildings. The National Model Construction Codes, comprising national building, fire, plumbing and energy codes for new and renovated commercial buildings and facilities, are model codes developed by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes that Canadian provinces adopt as part of their building, fire and plumbing regulations, according to the release.Following the review, the commission will consider all comments and make final recommendations on each proposed change.
