Nippon Sheet Glass Co.reported a 15 percent increase in revenues in the first quarter of fiscal year 2014, compared to the same period in FY 2013, according to the company's FY 2014 1st Quarter Consolidated Financial Results, released Aug. 1.
The company's architectural glass business performed "significantly better than the previous year," due in part to NSG's restructuring program, according to officials. North American revenues and profits also improved from the previous year, and prices remained stable, according to the report.
"Automotive and architectural market conditions during the first quarter of the year were broadly stable," according to NSG officials in the report. "Markets that had shown signs of recovery during the previous year, continued to improve. Overall, technical glass markets were similar to the previous year. In North America, architectural glass markets continued to improve, mainly due to increases in private residential construction."Looking forward, restructuring and operational improvements will remain key focuses for fiscal year 2014. The group also notes that cash management and working capital remain a priority, according to the report.
