The New Century Globe Centre, an 18-story, glass-and-steel frame structure, opened above a new subway station in Chengdu, Sichuan province, in China, according to a July 8 article from Construction Week Online. The 5.6 million-square-foot building is the world's largest standalone building, exceeding the next largest, Dubai's International Airport Terminal 3, by 500,000 square feet.
