An alliance of solar glass manufacturers, led by Germany-based GMB Glasmanufaktur Brandenburg, has filed an anti-dumping complaint with the European Commission against Chinese competitors. Dubbed EU ProSun Glass, the group claims that nearly 90 percent of imported solar glass comes from China, with European jobs and factories being heavily affected by destructive dumping, according to a PVTech report.
The move comes after the U.S. Department of Commerce made afinal determination, Oct. 10, thatChinese manufacturers were dumping solar panels into the U.S. market at less than fair value, and moved to impose tariffs on imports of Chinese crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells, regardless of whether or not they were assembled into modules. The U.S. International Trade Commission supported the determination, ruling that U.S. producers of solar panels were being hurt by Chinese dumping practices.
