New construction skylight activity better than expected in 2012, according to AAMA/WDMA report

The American Architectural Manufacturers Associationand the Window & Door Manufacturers Associationhave jointly released the December 2012 update to the 2011/2012 U.S. Industry Statistical Review and Forecast.

The organziations report that 2012 saw slow growth in nonresidential construction activity in categories favorable to nonresidential door volumes (hospitality, education, healthcare, office). Total volume for the year is expected to reflect a 4.5 percent increase for entry doors and a 5.2 percent increase for interior doors over 2011.

New construction skylight activity performed better than expected in 2012, growing 23.3 percent over the previous year, according to the report. Remodeling and replacement skylight activity fell behind initial expectations, with just 2.9 percent growth.
