Architectural firm BIG has been commissioned to design a 70,000 square foot observation tower in Phoenix that will enhance the city's skyline and offer views of the surrounding geography, according to a Dec. 19 BIG release. The futuristic tower will feature a core of reinforced concrete with an open-air spiral sphere at the top. The sphere is designed to include flexible exhibition, retail and recreational spaces accessed through three glass elevators, according to the release. The tower will also feature glass walls.
