PPG glass segment sales down in third quarter, despite record earnings per share

PPG Industries reported third quarter 2012 net sales of $3.8 billion and net income for the quarter of $339 million. Despite the record third-quarter earnings per share, however, glass segment sales were down $11 million from the prior year, at $262 million for the quarter. Higher flat glass volumes were offset by lower pricing and the negative impact of foreign currency translation, according to an October 18 release.
