Nonresidential construction lost 5,600 jobs in June 2008 on a seasonally-adjusted basis, raising the total number of jobs shed in the past year to 43,900, according to a July 3 report released by the U.S. Labor Department. This loss represents a slow-down compared to May 2008, which saw a decline of 7,400 jobs, according to a July 9 Associated Builders and Contractors report.
