Shirley W. Palmer-Ball, retired president of Palmer Products Corp., passed away, August 17, at the age of 82.
A well known glass industry figure, Shirley led the family business after taking over from his father Lawrence B. Palmer-Ball Sr. Under Shirley's leadership, the adhesive mastics manufacturer consolidated its Chicago and Louisville, Ky., plants, and later introduced Qwikset Mirro-Mastic to its Palmer Mirro-Mastic product line.
In addition to his glass career, Shirley was active in the political arena, running twice as the Republican candidate for Kentucky lieutenant governor, according to The Courier-Journal.com.
Shirley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Howell; his six children, Elizabeth Rosene, Helen Bush, Virginia Brown, Lawrence B. Palmer-Ball II, Connie Roitman and Charles Christopher Palmer-Ball; and 11 grandchildren.
