John P. (Jack) Hilboldt, co-founder of National Glass and Glazing and a nearly 60-year glass industry veteran, has passed away, according to a statement from the family. Hilboldt started as a glazier apprentice in 1947, and went on to run Stanley Hanks Glass Co., which was purchased by Cupples Product and became Gateway Glass. He left in 1982 to start National Glass and Glazing with his sons Denny and Larry.

Hilboldt retired from NGG in 2005. During his career in the glazing industry, he was a pioneer of pre-glazed unitized curtainwalls, according to the statement.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Sis) Hilboldt, 10 children, 22 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and more than 50 nieces and nephews. He was a beloved brother-in-law, father-in-law, and friend to many in and out of the industry.
