Officials from NSG Group announced in a July 6 release that the company will reduce its float glass production capacity in North America to match customer demand. One of two lines at the Group's plant in Laurinburg, N.C., will be idled in a process that is expected to be completed in August and September.
In a same-day release, NSG officials also announced that it will put its float furnace at Port Marghera, Venice, Italy, on "hot-hold," an active state that allows the line to be restarted at short notice. The news follows a May announcement that the company would postpone the restart of a float line in Gladbeck, Germany, which was undergoing a planned cold repair, according to the release.
The lines will recommence production when market conditions permit, according to the releases.
