UPDATE:The Suzhou Court in China registered patent infringement lawsuits from Glaston against North Luoyang North Glass Technologies Co. Ltd and Luoyang LandGlass Technologies Co. Ltd., June 11, according to a Glaston release. LandGlass officials say the suit is without merit.
Last month, Glaston announced it had initiated a lawsuit against LandGlass for patent infringement. Michael Spellman, president of IGE Solutions, Jupiter, Fla., the exclusive distributor for LandGlass in North America, says that, as of June 4, the company had not received notification of a lawsuit from Glaston. "LandGlass has not received any lawsuit or been presented with any proof that there is one actually being filed," he says.
LandGlass responded to Glaston's release about the lawsuit with a declaration on intellectual property, stating that the company "has always attached importance to protecting its own intellectual property and valued intellectual property of others at the same time."
"I am 100 percent confident that any allegation of infringement is without merit," Spellman says.
He added that North American customers will not be affected by the situation. "We do not believe that this will have any effect on machines sold in North America. We are currently experiencing a great period of sales and growth with our LandGlass line, and remain extremely positive about LandGlass' success in both North America and the rest of the world," Spellman says.
