Glass machinery manufacturers join in a VDMA initiative to promote sustainability

VDMA, the German Engineering Federation,introduced a "Blue Competence" label that makes it possible for member firms in the Glass Technology Forum to publically underline the sustainability of their products, production processes and logistics, with the specific aim of helping customers with purchasing decisions. Blue Competence is not a product designation label, but a label to aid communication, VDMA officials explained in a May 22 release.

“Glass machinery technology under the Blue Competence banner stands for stable and energy-efficient production processes and highest quality end products. This benefits glass manufacturers, end consumers and ultimately society as a whole,” said Timo Feuerbach, who heads up the VDMA glass machinery and equipment sector.

Blue Competence banner glass machinery manufacturers will present their sustainable solutions at glasstec in Düsseldorf, Germany, Oct. 23-26.
