Pilkington to lay off about 60 employees at Ottawa float glass plant

Pilkington North America Inc.will lay off approximately 60 employees at itsOttawa, Ill., float glass plant, beginning June 2, 2012.

"The decision has been taken in light of the continuing difficult market environment in the glass industry and resulting drop in product volumes in North America," said Pilkington officials, in a release. "This drop in demand and reduction of future orders has resulted in insufficient work to maintain the Ottawa plant workforce at its current level."
