Katherine McNeel, a former employee of Trainor Glass, filed a class action lawsuit March 21 against the glazing contractor. Trainor Glass ceased operations Feb. 21.
The suit, filed on behalf of McNeel and all other similarly situated former Trainor employees, calls for recovery of damages in the amount of 60 days' pay and Employee Retirement Income Security Act benefits, according to court documents. The suit charges that Trainor Glass violated employees' rights under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act by failing to provide notice of the company's complete closure last month. Under the WARN Act, employees are entitled to receive 60 days' advance written notice of closings. About 500 employees were discharged from Trainor's facilities nationwide due to the closure, according to the court documents.
