Hartung Glass Industries announced that Kirk Johnson has become director of sales, helping to lead the company's commercial/architectural, decorative and shower door product lines, according to a Jan. 2 company release. Johnson, who joined Hartung in September, is a 16-year industry veteran with experience in sales and operations. He has served extensively the South and West, particularly in California.
Johnson worked with ACI/Vitro for more than 10 years, and undertook a rigorous training program with the company where he gained experience in numerous positions in production including cutting, tempering, insulating and heavy door fabrication, as well as most office responsibilities including estimating, finance, customer service and logistics. Johnson's experience with ACI/Vitro included time in Phoenix and Santa Fe Springs, Calif., serving as assistant manager, then branch manager, and eventually area manager. During his tenure, Johnson was promoted to Western sales and marketing manager, managing Arizona, California and Nevada, and ultimately to director of sales and marketing with responsibility for 13 Western states including the North American territory for Vitro's Mexicali float tank joint venture with AGC.
Johnson also gained considerable experience working with Arch Aluminum and Glass for five years, starting off as branch manager for Arch's City of Industry, Calif., location and then Western regional general manager for Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah.
Johnson's responsibilities at Hartung include defining sales strategies, organizational structure, marketing direction, competitive landscape analysis, segmentation, differentiation and core competencies as well as creating unity across the enterprise while strengthening corporate culture and core values, according to the release.
