New float glass plant in Brazil to begin production mid-2013

Cornelius Brennand Group will open a float glassplant in northeastern Brazil through its subsidiaryCompanhia Brasileira de Vidros Planos. The R$550 million (about $310 million) plant will begin operation in the second half of 2013, according to a company announcement. It will be about 860,000 square feet in size, with an annual capacity of 260,000 tons. Company officials anticipate the float glass plant will have annual revenues of R$400 million (about $225 million) and will generate about 370 new direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect ones, according to the announcement.
