Officials of Sapa Profiles North America announced that the company is investing $2 million in a major expansion of anodizing operations at its Miami plant. Construction will begin in December, with completion and full operation slated for mid-first quarter 2012, according to a release.

"This investment will more than double our Miami anodizing capacity to over 13 million pounds annually," said Sam Tingler, Miami plant manager, in the release."We will offer a full range of services in clear and electrolytic colored anodic coatings as well as acid etch."

According to Sat Adusumilli, director of Operational Effectiveness for Sapa NA,the expansion is part of the more than $100 million capital expenditure that Sapa has completed in North America over the last two years. "By adding capacity and new capabilities, the Miami facility will add sourcing flexibility and complementary capabilities to our plants in Delhi, La., and Gainesville, Ga.. which will enhance our customer service to the next level," he said in the release.

Miami's new anodizing lines will feature "green applications" for the building and construction market and also serve solar/renewable energy and automotive customers.
