The U.S construction segment added 26,000 jobs between August and September, causing the sector's unemployment rate to drop slightly to 13.3 percent, according to an Oct. 7 article from SitePrep Magazine. The construction unemployment rate is down from 17.2 percent a year ago, but still above the all-industry rate of 9.1 percent, according to the article.
The increase in construction employment will not continue if the federal government continues to make cuts to infrastructure and construction programs, according to the article.
