Julie Ruth, code consultant for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, provided an update on the 2012 International Green Construction Code during the Code Action Committee meeting at the AAMA National Fall Conference. Read an article by Ruth about the IgCC from the October issue of Glass Magazine. "We have final action in November that will determine the content of the 2012 IgCC," Ruth said during the meeting. "We've been actively reviewing, submitting proposals, and reviewing actions. Now, we want to focus on our positions in regard to public comments that others submitted."

During the meeting, the group voted on various positions for AAMA to take on public comments regarding issues such as toplighting, life cycle assessment, energy conservation, daylight saturation, service life plan, permanent shading devices and acoustical ratings.

Ruth said the code communities are already progressing on the 2015 International Building Code, and the industry needs to be prepared. "Even though the 2012 code is just being published, we have a deadline to submit proposal for the next edition on Jan. 2, 2012," she said.
