The American Architectural Manufacturers Association's North American Fenestration Standard Committee reviewed the fifth, and likely final, ballot for the 2011 version of the AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440 NAFS-North American Standard/Specifications for windows, doors, and skylights. "We're getting close," said Ken Brenden, AAMA technical services manager, Sept. 26, during the committee's meeting at AAMA's 2011 National Fall Conference. "All comments submitted by AAMA members were reviewed and resolved by the Joint Document Management Group during the September conference call. At this point, we don't anticipate seeing a sixth ballot."

The committee is preparing the final document. It should be finalized in October, and published and available for purchase by the end of the year, Brenden said.

The group is also setting its sights on the next edition of the standard, scheduled for 2017. AAMA sent a survey to members seeking input on potential changes for the next NAFS, said Steve Fronek, committee co-chair and vice president of technical services for Wausau Window & Wall Systems. Fronek said member input is critical to developing a successful update to the standard, and encouraged members to make their voices heard by completing the survey, available on the members only section of AAMA's website.
