Residential remodeling activity rose again in July, marking the 21st straight month of growth, according to the BuildFax Remodeling Index. The July 2011 index rose 24 percent year-over-year to 130.4, the highest number since the BFRI was introduced in 2004.
Activity in theNortheast was up half a point (.7 percent) from a year earlier, as was the West, up 26 percent. Activity in the South grew 7 percent compared to July 2010, and Midwest activity levels rose 5.6 percent.
Therehas been an upswing in the sales of building materials and the number of renovations greater than $10,000, BuildFax officials said in a release.
