The value of nonresidential construction starts was up 19 percent in August compared to July, according to Reed Construction Data, as reported in Data Digest from the Associated General Contractors of America. Year-to-date starts were up 6.9 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
Construction employment was mixed in August, with employment decreasing in 30 states and the District of Columbia, and increasing in 20 states, according to Data Digest. Compared with August 2010, construction employment was up in 44 states and D.C., and down in six states.
