Pennsylvania couple wins ShowerGuard sweepstakes

Post Time:Jul 27,2011Classify:Industry NewsView:141

Officials from Guardian Industries announced that a Pennsylvania couple received a free ShowerGuard glass shower enclosure as part of a company sweepstakes, according to a July 26 Guardian release. The recipients, Lauri and Bill Smith, had just started an addition on their Warminster Township home when Bill Smith was laid off from his construction job.

"We already had a hole in the back of the house and a line of credit, so we kept going," Lauri Smith explained. Bill Smith got to work at home, putting in extensive tile in the bath and finishing a larger corner shower. "I knew I wanted a really nice, frameless shower door and I knew it was going to be expensive, so I bought a little shower curtain, and I was going to wait," Lauri Smith said. "But we had a bit of money left on our line of credit, so I decided to get it done."

She went to Doylestown Glass, a registered ShowerGuard dealer, and chose ShowerGuard glass because it would resist hard water stains, according to the release. The glass was fabricated by Oldcastle Building Envelope, Moorestown, N.J., and quickly ready for installation—the door was purchased, order, fabricated and installed in three weeks.

Smith said she was primarily interested in the rebate Guardian was offering, so it came as quite a surprise when Gary Klinger from Guardian called her to deliver the news that she had won the sweepstakes. "She didn't believe I was telling her the truth," Klinger said. "She called me a liar five times before actually accepting the idea she had won."
