Auto glass industry's Neil Smith passes away

Neil Smith, 66, of Portland, died Friday, June 17,at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Neil was one of the founders of Western Windshields, a West Coast auto glass distribution business, before selling to PPG Industries in 1992. He then moved on to another opportunity as one of the founders of GlasPro/Elite Auto Glass before it was sold to Belron in 2005. He was currently working, along with his partners, on a joint venture with Guardian Industries to manage and grow the retail auto glass business of Guardian. Neil also was a past president and board member of the National Glass Association.
