Edgetech I.G., Cambridge, Ohio, issued a 40-page court response to a lawsuit filed by Glasslam USA, Pompano Beach, Fla., on March 24. Glasslam, also known as Nebula Glass International Inc., filed a lawsuit against Edgetech claiming the violation of antitrust provisions, defamation, unfair trade practices and breach of contract. The suit alleges, among other things, that Edgetech pressured suppliers against selling raw materials and equipment to Glasslam for use in making foam spacers. The suit also alleges Edgetech conspired with industry trade associations and certification councils to keep Glasslam products from the market.
In Edgetech's response, filed April 19, the company denied the majority of the allegations, and claimed any alleged conduct the company did engage in was "reasonable, justified, excused, privileged and/or in pursuit of lawful and legitimate business interests." Additionally, Edgetech denied that Glasslam is entitled to any of the relief sought in the suit.
