Two new technical interpretations for ANSI Z97.1 are now available from the ASC Z97 Committee. The first clarifies language related to laminated and organic glass weathering of colored products, indicating that clear products qualify colors. The second resolves the current question around the utilization of the center punch fragmentation test for tempered safety glass and the particle count.
Both interpretations are available for download via the links at the end of this story. Interested parties will also be able to access the documents on the committee Website, www.ansiz97.com.
The ASC Z97 Committee was established to maintain the ANSI Z97.1 Standard - Safety Glazing Materials Used in Buildings - Safety Performance Specifications and Methods of Test. This standard establishes the specifications and methods of test for the safety properties of safety glazing materials (glazing materials designed to promote safety and to reduce or minimize the likelihood of cutting and piercing injuries when the glazing materials are broken by human contact) as used for all building and architectural purposes.
