Taking their cue from Tacoma’s [Wash.] historic landmarks commission, designers of the new building north of the former Elks Temple scrapped their last design and covered the complex in glass.
The new model, revealed Wednesday [April 13]night, shows the $58 million hotel-apartment building with an almost entirely glass exterior instead of concrete panels. The Broadway side features three vertical glass bays that jut out between 18 inches and 2 feet. The building’s southwest corner is canted to mimic the vertical bays. The Stadium Way side is simply glass from end to end, according to an April 15 article in The News Tribune.
