The Glass Association of North America, Topeka, Kan., elected Michael Burriss of Cytec, Woodland Park, N.J.,as chair of GANA’s Laminating Division, according to a March 2 release.He succeeds Cliff Monroe of Arch Aluminum and Glass, Tamarac, Fla.Burriss will chair the division’s meeting later this month at Glass Week, March 24-27,at the Paris Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Burriss graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Presbyterian College in 1995.He started out as a coatings formulation chemist at Crown Metro in Greenville, S.C., before moving on to UCB Chemicals in the same role.In 2000, he was promoted to technical sales representative for the Uvekol Glass Laminating System.In 2005, Cytec Industries purchased the UCB Chemicals business, and Burriss moved into Market Development for the Uvekol product line in 2006. In December of 2010, he was promoted to global market manager for New Business Development, where he is leading Cytec’s efforts in photovoltaic and glass coatings applications.
In his spare time Burriss enjoys spending time with his wife and child -- a second on the way-- as well as landscaping and other home improvement projects.
