Officials at the Glass Association of North America Educational Foundation, Topeka, Kan.,announced Feb. 7 that the organizationis accepting applications for its 2011 scholarships, according to a Feb. 7 release.In addition to the minimum five $1,000 scholarships it will award to undergrads, the foundation also is offering a graduate scholarship of $2,500.Since the beginning of the effort, the foundation has awarded several scholarships to students studying in the fields of architecture, construction management or engineering.The graduate scholarship also includes business students.This marks the fourth year of the program.
“GANA created this program in 2006 as a way to give back to the industry,” said Bill Yanek, GANA executive vice president, in the release. “By awarding students who will become an integral part of our industry, we hope to encourage the increased usage of glass in commercial architecture.”
Funding from the program includes proceeds from GANA's BEC Conference for the past several years.The next BEC Conference will be held March 27-29 at the Paris Las Vegas Resort in Las Vegas.For more information, as well as to download the application form for the program, visit the GANA Educational Foundation Web site.Deadline for scholarship applications is April 1, 2011.
