Solar power takes its place in the sun

This week sees the formal unveiling of the Emirates Solar Industry Association, an initiative of Abu Dhabi's Masdar Institute, which expects to bring together all the players in the industry to unleash the full potential the alternate energy resource offers.

Apart from those entities directly involved in solar energy — whether in photovoltaics, concentrating solar power or solar thermal — the new group also plans to create roles for suppliers to the industry such as glass, steel and engineering companies, according to a Jan. 9 gulfnews.com report.
