GPD chairman previews 2011 event

At a Sept. 29 press meeting held in conjunction with Glaston, Finland, at glasstec, Glass Performance Daysofficials offered a preview of the 2011 event.

Jorma Vitkala, chairman, Glass Performance Days, Finland, made a presentation on the 2011 GPD, June 17-20. “Special focus will be on architectural design, processing and solar technologies,” he said. “New at the conference will be the Architectural Competition, the Solar and Energy Park, the Investor Forum and the CEOs Lunch and Networking Meeting.”

The architectural competition will feature state-of-the-art glass designs, a permanent structure, sites chosen within the city, and an informative display and public room, Vitkala said. The Solar and Energy Park will create awareness of the changein building codesand EU regulations to the public; provide tangible examples of advanced glass technology; include adaptation of demos in Sorsapuisto Park/Tampere Hall; and offer glass technology, solar and energy-efficiency solutions, he said.
