Joel Berman Glass Studios, Vancouver, British Columbia, has partnered with DSG Custom Glass, Langley, British Columbia,to bring state-of-the-art digital glass printing to the architecture and design community, according to an Aug. 19 release.

Branded Berman Graphics: Print, the technique involves the printing of high resolution photographic images and graphic designs directly onto the surface of glass panels using ceramic frit ink, then fusing the ink to the glass surface for permanency.

“Glass as a teller of stories has been used for millennia,” said Joel Berman, founder and president, Joel Berman Glass Studios, in the release. “Stained glass windows have been used in cathedrals as storyboards and have withstood the test of time for centuries. Berman Graphics: Print is a modern version of the ancient technique of permanently coloring the surface of glass to tell stories. With design that is relevant to the community, to the surrounding architecture, and to the users of the space, stories told in glass can sustain indefinitely. We are pleased to be partnering with DSG Custom Glass to bring this exciting technology to the design world.”

Available insizes up to 59 inches by 126 inchesand in thicknesses from 4 millimeters to 19 mm, Berman Graphics: Print panels can be printed in up to 454 DPI resolution at full coverage, with a virtually unlimited number of colors available through digital mixing of seven spot colors plus etch ink.
