Between Oct. 26 and Oct. 29, Milan will host Vitrum 2011, the 17th biennial International trade fair for machinery, equipment and systems for the processing of flat and hollow glass; glass and finished products for the industry, according to a July 22 release.
Vitrum, an international event that brings thousands of foreign visitors to Milan,is asource of precious leads and business opportunities for companies in the sector, attended by an increasing number of visitors and exhibitors. Even during the crisis of 2009, and contrary to the general trend for international fairs during that period, the number of foreign visitors Vitrum attracted (from more than 100 countries) increased significantly compared to 2007 (+3.68%), according to the release.
Expectations for the forthcoming fair at the Fiera Milano complex in Rho are high. At the center of the next Vitrum will be the latest technological innovations for a range of flat glass applications: sophisticated technology companies in the sector engineered for the mosttraditional (i.e. industrial, architectural and furniture) and innovative applications, such as solar power systems.
The entire Vitrum Hollow Glass section will be dedicated to tableware, bottles, specialty glass for pharmaceutical/technical applications and state-of-the-art products designed to meet high safety and sanitation standards.
Energy-saving and renewable energy technology will be prominently featured in the Vitrum Energy section, with glass in the spotlight as the center of the latest, most innovative solutions for a green economy.
Vitrum Lab, the art lab project launched in 2009, and sponsored by the Lombardy Regional Authority - Education, Training and Labor Department as well as the Provincial Authority of Milan, will also continue to promote glass-related art, crafts and culture. Elementary school children will once more be invited to attend the fair, participate in creative workshops, and watch amazing live performances by master glassblowers from Murano.
During glasstec 2010, updates on Vitrum 2011 will be available at the GIMAV stand: hall 16, stand D 36, according to the release.
