Crystal Window & Door Systems, Flushing, N.Y.,recently began shipment of one of its most popular vinyl window products to a new residential development under construction in mainland China, according to a May 3 release.
Crystal is supplying various styles of its energy-efficient vinyl new construction windows for the Molida Estate Villas development in Tianjin, China. The initial 185 windows for model homes have been delivered and several thousand more are to be produced and exported in the coming months. This residential development consists of approximately 500 new American style high-end single-family homes and townhouses on a 2,500-acre site, half of which is set aside as open green space. The project, planned in several phases, is expected to be completed within the next three years.
“The developer wanted to use well designed, modern building products in its homes, ones that would give the project an upscale feel,” said Thomas Chen, president, in the release. “His research of American window manufacturers led him to Crystal. The developer was impressed with the quality and energy efficiency built into our products, and that resulted in the selection of Crystal windows for this American-style housing development.”
Crystal is exporting its Series 400 double-hung and picture windows and Series 250 hopper windows, all Energy Star certified, as well as special shape circle-top and eyebrow windows to complete the first phase of the development project. The white color windows feature double-strength dual-glazed insulating glass units with argon gas filling and PPG Solarban 60 low-E glass coating. In keeping with true “American” looks and functionality, the windows feature Colonial between-the-glass grids and mesh screens. While the Series 400 comes standard with an integral nailing fin J-channel, the hopper windows were ordered with optional feature nailing fins and J-channels to ease installation. To further facilitate project construction, Crystal supplied 0-degree mullions for field assembly of combination window units. Crystal provided additional repair and replacement items in consideration of the distance to ensure the installations could be completed without delay, according to the release.
The Crystal vinyl windows were all produced in the company’s Flushing, N.Y., factory, and Crystal coordinated the overseas shipping of the materials to mainland China. Crystal’s operation in Suzhou, China, facilitated much of the effort.
