Post Time:Apr 28,2010Classify:Industry NewsView:191

Leon Silverstein, CEO, Arch Aluminum & Glass, Tamarac, Fla., will leave the company to pursue other interests, according to an April 28 letter to its employees from Edward Rivas, director of human resources and safety, Arch Aluminum.

“We had a difference of opinion on a lot of issues," Silverstein told Glass Magazine."I believe in a family business company culture and loyalty; I have a 'work with the customer' mentality because they and the employees are always the company’s biggest assets.Leaving these relationships, even for short-term, is much harder than going through bankruptcy and this is the most difficult thing I ever had to do.If anything, I’ve never been more proud of my employees, but it’s the right time for me to move on.I have no non-compete and expect to be back in business very shortly.I look forward to re-emerging.”

Frank Busam will act as theinterim CEO, effective immediately. He graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in aeronautical engineering and has an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. He held numerous positions at Rain Bird Sprinkler Corp., Azusa, Calif.; was president of Carolina Mirror Co., North Wilkesboro, N.C.; and was president of Brasstech Inc., Santa, Ana, Calif., a division of Masco Corp. For the last two years, Busam has served in a number of executive roles at Sun Capital Partners portfolio companies.
