Dow Corning expert to discuss benefits of silicone technology

Construction Industry Scientist Larry Carbary will present, “Comparisons of Thermal Performance and Energy Consumption of Facades Used in Commercial Buildings” at the Building Enclosure Science & Technology Conference: A New Design Paradigm for Energy Efficient Buildings, April 12-14, at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower in Portland, Ore., according to an April 12 releaseThe presentation will focus on measuring key factors that impact building energy performance, such as:• How energy efficient fenestration systems play an important role in minimizing energy costs and maximizing the thermal efficiency of buildings;• The role structural sealants play, using Dow Corning 983 and 995 sealants as examples; and,• How varying climatic conditions and materials affect energy consumption.

Carbary is a senior member of Dow Corning Construction’s technical service staff, where he develops new technologies for façade sealing and glazing techniques. He is internationally recognized for his technical expertise on the topics of curtain wall sealing, building restoration and aesthetic preservation and is an active member of the Sealant Waterproofing and Restoration Institute. In 2007, he was granted the ASTM Award of Merit, according to the release.
