‘Triple-zero’ home construction savings add up

Most of us by now are accustomed to hearing the term “net zero” when talking about innovative houses and small commercial buildings. But now we’re starting to hear about a concept that is even more avant-garde: the triple-zero house.

It’s the brain-child of German architect and engineer Werner Sobek. By triple-zero, Sobek means a building that is energy self-sufficient (zero energy consumed), produces zero emissions and is made entirely of recyclable materials (zero waste). To achieve this, Sobek uses a lot of glass and as little steel and concrete as possible.
