CRL’s corporate headquarters to expand

Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. has begun construction of a high cube, 60,000-square-foot facility at the company’s headquarters’ complex, according to an Aug. 25 release. The facility is being built on recently purchased acreage across the street from CRL headquarters on Vernon Avenue.

“This past year has been marked with tremendous growth for CRL," said Donald E. Friese, chairman and CEO, in the release. "We are currently building two new 50,000-square-foot branch distribution centers in Manchester, England, and Melbourne, Australia. We have just moved our German operation into a new 30,000-square-foot facility near Stuttgart, Germany, and our new 55,000-square-foot branch facility near Miami opens this September. We continually challenge ourselves to grow and improve, not only with products and additional distribution points, but also with our expanding Web site which provides customers access worldwide to all our CRL products and services.”

In the spring of 2008, CRL acquired Sommer & Maca (Somaca), Cicero, Ill.
