This year’s Glass Performance Days Finland, June 12-15, in Tampere, will focus on the role glass plays in energy management. Edgetech I.G., Cambridge, Ohio, manufacturer of the Super Spacer warm edge spacer system and related fenestration products, will take part in the dynamic conference with a presentation titled ‘Challenges of Bent Insulating,’ June 15. Joe Erb, product manager, will make the presentation, according to a May 27 release.
Bent glass is formed by applying heat and forming glass over a curved mold. Architects are using bent IG more often to provide a unique design element, while maintaining energy efficiency, said Erb, in the release. “At the GPD Finland session, we will discuss opportunities and challenges with bent IG and best practices to ensure optimal energy efficiency, sustainability and manufacturing efficiency,” he said.
Erb has 15 years of experience in the fenestration market and is actively involved with industry associations, including GANA, IGMA and IGCC. He is the chairman of IGCC and ex-afficio member of the board. He has written numerous articles for Glass Magazine and has been making presentations globally for more than eight years. His current role as product manager for Edgetech includes the responsibility of increasing the use of high-performance warm edge glazing in the commercial market, according to the release.
