Oldcastle Glass, Santa Monica, Calif.,offers high quality, realistic Building Information Modeling objects for select engineered architectural aluminum products through Reed Construction Data’s proprietary SmartBIM Library, according to an April 30 release. Oldcastle Glass SmartBIM Objects were developed in partnership with Reed Construction Data, a division of Reed Business Information and a leading North American provider of construction information.
“The goal of this strategic partnership was to deliver architects and specifiers the highest quality BIM objects including those for curtain wall, architectural windows, skylights, storefronts and entrances--in the industry," said Deep Bhattacharya, vice president, Development and Technology, Oldcastle Glass, in the release. "This demonstrates our commitment to making available the most accurate, usable and truly parametric BIM objects for the building envelope.”
SmartBIM objects were created with full oversight of licensed architects who understand building design. SmartBIM establishes standards on how to model for quality and usability; manages objects for easy search and selection; facilitates distribution details; generates quantity and cost estimation; organizes collections of objects by project type; and provides tools to review and select products for sustainable design.
“There are a plethora of BIM objects on the Internet," Bhattacharya said, in the release. "However, it is very difficult to find the right object for a project, and the objects are often not accurate or do not have critical information. With SmartBIM Objects, projects can be designed and implemented with more speed, efficiency, accuracy and quality.”
