U.S. industrial production fell for the fourth month running in February, dropping by 1.4 percent on weak factory and manufacturing output as global demand has continued to erode.
The monthly decline was slightly worse than expected and was driven lower by warmer temperatures across the U.S., which slowed the output of utilities. Industrial output was off by 11.2 percent compared with the same month in the prior year and fell to its lowest level since 2002 last month, the Federal Reserve said on Monday, according to a March 16 Financial Times article.
