General Motors Corp. Chief Executive Officer Richard Wagoner met with President Barack Obama’s auto task force today in Washington, a person familiar with the matter said.

Wagoner also plans a session with German Economy Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg later today in Washington, according to a statement released by the German Embassy. The meeting will be about GM and its European subsidiaries, including Opel, Ulrich Sante, a German Embassy spokesman, said in an interview.

Wagoner is being joined at the meetings by Chief Operating Officer Fritz Henderson, according to the person, who requested anonymity because the sessions are private. The task force gathering was to discuss GM’s efforts to reduce costs and restore profit, said the person, who declined to be more specific.

Information was exchanged in the meeting, and no decisions were made, the person said, according to a March 16 Bloomberg report.
